Examinations & Radiographs

Cleaning and Preventive Dentistry

A comprehensive dental exam and cleaning are recommended 1-2x/year for children and adults. During your initial dental examination with us, our staff will take the necessary x-rays to ensure the health of your gums, teeth, and jaw. X-rays will only be required as the Dentists deem absolutely necessary to keep exposure as low as reasonably possible.

During annual/biannual check-ups, patients receive a thorough examination of all oral components, including teeth, gums, tongue, jaw, and neck. Our dentists will examine each tooth for cavities, plaque, or damage using a small pick instrument and mirror. An examination of your gums will detect if any gum disease is present or needs treatment. Your head, neck and jaw are examined to diagnose any possible issues with glands or joints, such as TMJ disorder.

Prices range from $38-$158 depending on type of examination.

Dentistry is founded on the principle of prevention. Frequency of visits is determined by your oral health status that will be determined after a thorough examination and your individual risk for particular dental problems, such as cavities, acid erosion or gum disease.  This allows us to customize a dental health plan especially for you.

Prices range depending on the individual, please call us to book your free consultation and estimate!

Cosmetic Dentistry

With greater knowledge of health issues, people are taking better care of their teeth than ever before. As dentists, we see the results of increased attention to oral care in the improved dental health of our patients. With the basics taken care of, more and more people are turning their attention to improving the aesthetics of their smiles.

At Palmerston Dental Care we provide a wide range of cosmetic treatments in Toronto that can make a noticeable difference in the look of your smile, in a lot less time than you think. The latest innovations in cosmetic dentistry have opened up a world of choice for enhancing your smile. An attractive smile opens doors and improves self-confidence. With our cosmetic dentistry services in Toronto, you can create a radiant smile that truly lights up a room. Some of the more popular cosmetic treatments performed in our office include:

  • White Fillings – Made of a tooth-coloured resin material, these fillings are made to match your existing teeth so your smile appears clean and natural. With this resin compound bonding to your teeth, the seal is tighter and the restored tooth can be stronger than ever before.

  • Crowns and bridges - Crowns and bridges are good options for missing teeth, for covering a tooth that has cracked or that has been restored through a root canal. Our porcelain crowns blend in perfectly with your existing teeth and offer extra protection to the damaged tooth. Dental bridges literally “bridge” gaps between teeth with strong artificial teeth. Bridges replace one or more missing teeth and are anchored into place by the healthy teeth on either side.

  • Composite Veneers - Dental veneers are ultra-thin laminates of composite, applied chair side, that are bonded to the front of teeth. The veneers allow us to change the colour and/or the shape of the teeth. They are one of the best solutions cosmetic dentistry has to offer for improving the appearance of teeth.

  • Porcelain Veneers - Porcelain veneers are custom-fitted and matched to the shared of your teeth. Not only can they repair chips and cracks, they can also cover badly stained teeth and help correct misaligned teeth.

Pediatric Dentistry

Regular care for children is extremely important for setting a great foundation for a lifetime of good oral hygiene and a healthy smile.

First Dental Examination

Your child should have his or her first dental appointment after the first tooth appears and before his or her first birthday. While children do lose their "baby" teeth, or primary teeth, these teeth are instrumental in helping children speak and chew properly. Additionally, these primary teeth create a path for their permanent adult teeth to follow when they erupt. Dental check-ups are also important opportunities to create a good foundation for ongoing oral hygiene and give parents the chance to ask any questions they have about a child's oral health.

Invisible Alignment

There are various ways to correct crooked or crowded teeth without the use of traditional braces. Invisalign® takes a modern approach to straightening teeth, using a custom-made series of clear aligner trays created for you. These aligner trays are made of smooth, clear plastic that you wear over your teeth. Wearing these aligners will gradually and gently shift your teeth into place, based on the exact movements we plan out for you. There are no metal brackets to attach and no wires to tighten. You can achieve a great smile with little interference in your daily life. The best part about the whole process is that most people won't even know you're straightening your teeth.

Night and Snore Guards

Excessive jaw clenching and bruxism can accelerate tooth and jaw deterioration. Meanwhile, snoring can impact the quality of your own sleep and that of those around you.

Periodontal Maintenance

Among the causes for periodontal (gum) disease are genetic susceptibility, smoking, and other illnesses like diabetes. Periodontal maintenance involves removing plaque and tartar from above and below the gumline.

Whitening

Temporomandibular Disorder (TMD)/Tension Headaches

Your temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is arguably the most complex joint in the body. TMJ disorders cause pain in the muscles that control jaw movement. For many people, bruxism contributes to TMJ disorder, which can cause tension headaches, migraines, facial pain, and aching pain around the ears, neck, and shoulders. Botox can relieve symptoms of TMJ for some patients by relaxing the jaw muscles.
